space design

For the design I define 3 different partitions:

1)  3.5 m high – people’s behavior which exists in the 3 different times of the day (3 mapping tests).

2)  1.5 m high - people’s behavior which exists in 2 different times of the day (3 mapping tests).

3) 0.5 m high - people’s behavior which exists only on 1 of the tests.

The space is not done yet, but I wantקd to get an opinion about the idea. The partitions will guide and define the movement in the site and all the other elements that were exist there (like the tickets barrier or the coffee shop) will be removed so the only thing that will guide the movement through the space will be the partitions.

space program

The space is a museum space. There will be architectural elements in the space the will define the movement through space. For example: staircases, columns, benches, doors, corridors, floors, walls, light.

Studio project- “Path in Space”

The studio project began with a song of Balkan Beat Box which calls “Joro Boro”. The special quality about this song   is the feeling of harmony, the rhythm that creates a new picture out of a blank canvas. That’s why representing the song was done by dancing to the music sounds while my feet were painted with colors. The dance created a painting which represents this harmony of the song. After this experience there was a need to define a notation that will represent the song in a logic and systematic way. A language of body parts was created. Those body parts represent the different movement that could be seen in the mind while listening to the song. Also for expressing the different volumes of the sounds in the song, a grayscale was defined for the language. What is the right way to create syntax for the language?  By dividing the song into 5 parts and in each part creating a composition of the language of the song. These compositions created the syntax of the language. While transforming those ideas to the diamond bridge for analyzing and mapping the site, the movement in the site was tested. I chose to refer to architectural elements in the site which defines the movement in the site. The movement is changing during the different hours of the day. Mapping  the movement of people in the site in 3 different hours of the day was  presented by showing  the trace of each person by dots which gets darker when the movement is being slower (the darkest color is when the person stops his movement).  I discovered that those elements defines the movement in the whole site, and also that the capacity around those elements is changes during the day because of the amount of people that are in the train station every time. For the next phase, an animation of the places we can move through in the space was presented. Those places, this path is defines by the different elements.  This animation made me realize that I can control the flow of movement in a space by locating architectural elements in the space.
